Mission

The mission of the New York City Master Chorale is to connect people through choral music by presenting concerts of the highest caliber, inspired by the distinct energy, diversity, and talent of New York City, while fostering artistic collaboration and building an inclusive member community.

The Chorale seeks to engage and inspire audiences across all ages and backgrounds through its commitment to innovative programming from a diverse repertoire, including newly commissioned works and partnerships with artists and organizations who share the choir’s vision, as well as bringing music into the community through our outreach and education programs.

About

The New York City Master Chorale has performed at a variety of venues, recently including Carnegie Hall, Merkin Concert Hall at Kaufman Music Center, Rockefeller Center, Riverside Church, and Adler Hall at the New York Society for Ethical Culture. In past seasons, the Chorale has also performed at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully and Avery Fisher Halls, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Trinity Wall Street, Symphony Space, and additional venues in New York City, domestically, and internationally. The Chorale had its European debut on April 29, 2011 at Église Saint-Sulpice, Paris, France.

Select recent repertoire includes Whitbourne: Annelies, Palmeri: Misa a Buenos Aires (“MisaTango”, Rheinberger: Cantus Missae, Bruckner: Mass in E minor, and Klatzow: Return of the Moon. Highlights from previously performed repertoire includes: Orff: Carmina Burana, Beethoven: Symphony No. 9, Bach: Magnificat, Dvořák, Te Deum, Rachmaninoff: Vespers, Poulenc: Gloria. The Chorale has premiered work by Paul Leavitt and Aaron Fruchtman and commissioned and premiered pieces by Emily Lau, João Luiz, and Tara Mack.

The 65-voice Chorale is led by Artistic Director Dr. David Recca and will celebrate its 20th Anniversary in the 2025-2026 season.
